Redesigning mental health services in Northamptonshire

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is holding an information sharing and discussion morning on Tuesday June 8 to discuss a new draft model for adult mental health services in the county.

Northamptonshire Healthcare is inviting staff, service users, carers and representatives from partner organisations and agencies to join them on the day. Members of the public who want to know more about or be part of potential new developments in mental health services are also very welcome to attend.

The aim of the day is to share knowledge, experience and ideas on how the trust can deliver more accessible, high quality treatment, care and support for adults of all ages in the county.

The event runs from 9am to 12 noon on Tuesday June 8 at the Sturtridge Suite, Northampton Saints, Franklin’s Gardens, Weedon Road, Northampton NN5 5BG.  People who would like to attend should contact Tracey Davies, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust on 01536 313890 or email tracey.davies@nht.northants.nhs.uk.

Parmjit Rai, Head of Service Redesign with Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said: “Adult mental health services have gone through many changes over the years. Perhaps the biggest shift has been the move to treating and supporting people at home and in the community.

“Northamptonshire offers a comprehensive range of community mental health services. And our new Berrywood Hospital in Northampton and the Welland Centre in Kettering mean that people can receive treatment and support in a modern, therapeutic environment if they do need to come into hospital.

“We now think that if we organise our services differently, we can give an even better service to adults of all ages who use mental health services, their carers, and the agencies and organisations we work with.

“We believe that this will help us to put a bigger emphasis on helping people who have mental health problems make a better recovery, so that they can live more independently, get back into work or education more easily, and generally understand and make the most of their health and wellbeing.”
