Laying foundations for the future

OUR first year as an NHS foundation trust has been truly exciting.

We have seen our membership grow from 5,800 service users, carers, staff and public to more than 8,000; we have achieved consistently good results in our annual review by the Care Quality Commission, and we have won a range of new contracts, particularly in the field of prison mental health services.

Our new annual report, Laying foundations for the future, provides an overview of all these, and profiles of the developments in many of our services, including the expansion of HIV services, the introduction of new community drug and alcohol clinics, the move to community living by our learning disabled residents, and the opening of our new inpatient services at Berrywood Hospital and The Sett, Northamptonshire's new inpatient unit for young people with mental health problems.

As well as the usual information about our accounts and governance arrangements, this year's annual report also includes our first Quality Account. This provides a more detailed review of our progress and performance in delivering our priorties to improve clinical effectiveness in our services, safety, and the service user and carer experience.

Our aim is to provide you with more facts, figures and details that help you to understand more about Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, our plans and performance, so that you can more easily see our progress and help us to take full advantage of our new foundation trust status.
