IT has been 100 weeks since work started on the new Berrywood Hospital in Duston.
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating this week by holding a topping out ceremony and launching a competition to find names for the wards currently under construction.
With less than 30 weeks left for the completion of the new hospital, the ceremony celebrates the hospital reaching its highest point in construction.
The Trust’s Chairman, John Peet will unveil a golden bolt and plaque to commemorate this symbolic event on Wednesday 21 October at 1pm on the Berrywood Hospital site.
The bolt and plaque will be on permanent display throughout the life of the hospital.
This event will also see the launch of the second competition to find names for the second phase of the hospital. These include the wards for older adults, specialist care and venues in the central hospital area.
This year’s competition has three themes:
- Older adult wards – riverbank
- Specialist care – countryside
- Central area – woodland
People can submit as many suggestions as they wish. The closing date is November 30, 2009. Entries can be sent to: PFI Project Office, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Princess Marina Hospital, Upton, Northampton NN5 6UH or email to: penderedprojectoffice@nht.northants.nhs.uk
Please include your name and contact details. There will be voucher prizes for the winning entries.
