Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is hosting the fifth regional conference on Early Psychosis for NHS East Midlands.
“Inspiring hope, changing lives” is a one-day conference on Wednesday 7 October for everyone who works with young people in the East Midlands. It will bring together leaders and specialists in early intervention services for young people with psychosis from across the region.
As well as bringing leaders and specialists together, the day will also see keynote speakers:
Danny Crates, Paralympic champion and World Cup winning athlete is one of Britain’s most inspiring athletes. He worn the 800m Gold in the T46 class at the 2004 Athens Paralympics and was Team GB’s flag-bearer at the 2008 Games.
Louis Appleby, National Director for Mental Health in England and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Manchester. He has played a central role in plans to reform mental health services with his current priorities focussing on psychological therapies, stigma, race equality, suicide prevention, dementia and more.
Danny and Louis will both be addressing the audience and sharing their thoughts on inspiring hope and changing lives.
A series of workshops, ranging from the use of arts and creative activities in recovery to ways to engage young people in treatment and care will form part of the morning.
The afternoon will feature a five-a-side football tournament, with teams from all the counties in the East Midlands, and a dance masterclass.
The conference will close at 4pm with the Mayor of Kettering, Councillor Ruth Groome and Kettering Town Football Club striker, Jean-Paul Marna presenting the cup and awards to the winners of the football tournament.
The “Poppies” team have signed a football and an away kit which will be given to one lucky winner following the football tournament.
“Inspiring hope, changing lives” is taking over the Kettering Conference Centre for the day, starting at 10am and finishing with presentations from the Mayor at 4pm.
