Final week for entries in Berrywood names competition

THERE is just one week to go in the competition to find names for the new wards at Northamptonshire Healthcare’s new Berrywood Hospital in Duston, Northampton.

In 2008, Northamptonshire Healthcare held a competition to find a name for the new hospital and its first four wards, which opened in December. Berrywood Hospital was born, together with Bay Ward, Cove Ward, Marina Ward and Harbour Ward, the trust’s new adult mental health wards.

The second phase of construction is now well underway and Berrywood Hospital is due to be completed in May 2010.

The second phase includes the older people’s mental health wards, specialist care facilities and key locations in the central area of the new hospital, such as the restaurant and forum, all of which need names.

The theme for phase one, the adult mental health wards, was the seaside. This year’s competition has three themes:

· Older adult wards: rivers / riverbank
· Specialist care: the countryside / agriculture
· Central area: woods and woodland

People can submit as many suggestions as they wish. The closing date is November 30 2009.

Entries can be sent to: PFI Project Office, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Princess Marina Hospital, Upton, Northampton NN5 6UH. Email: penderedprojectoffice@nht.northants.nhs.uk.

Please include your name and contact details. There will be voucher prizes for the winning entries.
